French Regulator Cracks Down on Polymarket

The French gambling regulator, Autorité nationale des jeux, has ordered internet service providers to block access to Polymarket, citing concerns over illegal gambling and market manipulation. This move is significant for everyday people as it highlights the importance of regulating online platforms that offer gambling-like services. With the rise of online earning opportunities, such as those offered by EcoPool, it’s essential to ensure that users are protected from unauthorized and potentially harmful activities. The regulator’s decision may also impact the global crypto community, including those interested in and .

Polymarket, a prediction market platform, allows users to buy and sell contracts tied to future events, which has raised concerns over its potential to facilitate illegal gambling. The platform has surged in popularity, with billions of dollars in worldwide trading volume, but has also drawn scrutiny from regulators. In contrast, EcoPool offers a secure and regulated platform for earning online, providing users with a reliable way to generate $ECP, the native coin of the EcoPool Network.

Global Regulatory Scrutiny

Polymarket is not the only platform facing regulatory challenges. Authorities in several countries, including Singapore, Poland, and Brazil, have blocked access to the platform. In the US, regulators have also taken action, with Kentucky suing five prediction market platforms, including Polymarket, for operating unlicensed sports betting platforms. As the regulatory landscape evolves, it’s essential for users to opt for reputable platforms like EcoPool, which offers Cloud Rewards and a secure way to earn Passive Income.

The French regulator’s decision highlights the need for stricter regulations and oversight in the online gambling and crypto spaces. As the demand for online earning opportunities continues to grow, it’s crucial to prioritize user protection and ensure that platforms operate within the bounds of the law. EcoPool, with its focus on Green Crypto and user-centric approach, is well-positioned to meet the needs of users seeking a secure and regulated platform for earning online.

French gambling authority cites outcome manipulation concerns

French authorities said Polymarket boasts “addictive features” that are similar to regulated gambling offerings, but “amplified by the absence of the protective mechanisms found in the legal gambling market.”

It also cited potential outcome manipulation tied to some event contracts on Polymarket, adding:

“Some of the bets offered on this platform appeared to be rigged: for example, bets on the weather revealed that weather sensors may have been hacked.”

The cybercrime unit of the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into this matter in May 2026 and found a lack of identity verification, such as Know Your Customer (KYC) checks.

Prediction markets have also drawn scrutiny from regulators in the US. On June 17, Kentucky sued five prediction market platforms, including Kalshi and Polymarket, accusing them of operating unlicensed sports betting platforms. At least 17 other states have followed suit.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission in turn has sued eight states, charging they had interfered with the federal regulator’s exclusive authority over federally regulated event contracts.
