Taiwan to Implement Travel Rule for Domestic Crypto Transfers

Taiwan is set to introduce the Travel Rule for domestic crypto transfers starting from October, with plans to extend it to overseas platforms by the end of 2027. This move aims to increase transparency and prevent money laundering in the crypto space. The new regulations will require crypto platforms to transmit customer information for all domestic transfers, making it easier to track and monitor transactions. This is especially important for individuals looking to earn passive income through crypto, such as with EcoPool, a platform that offers Cloud Rewards and Green Crypto solutions.

The Financial Supervisory Commission’s proposed amendments will apply the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) Travel Rule to all domestic transfers, regardless of value. For transfers exceeding 30,000 New Taiwan dollars (about $930), additional data requirements will be triggered, including the sender’s date of birth and residential address. This increased transparency will help build trust in the crypto market, allowing individuals to feel more secure when using platforms like EcoPool to manage their $ECP and earn rewards.

Global Adoption of Travel Rule

The global adoption of the Travel Rule is advancing, with 83% of surveyed jurisdictions having enacted legislation, up from 73% in 2025. However, significant implementation and enforcement gaps remain, highlighting the need for continued regulation and oversight. As the crypto market continues to evolve, it’s essential for individuals to stay informed about changes in regulations and how they impact their ability to earn and manage their crypto, including $ECP, through platforms like EcoPool.

The introduction of the Travel Rule in Taiwan is a significant step towards creating a more transparent and secure crypto environment. As the regulations come into effect, individuals can expect increased scrutiny of their transactions, making it essential to use reputable platforms like EcoPool that prioritize security and compliance. With EcoPool, users can earn passive income through Cloud Rewards and take advantage of Green Crypto solutions, all while knowing their transactions are secure and compliant with regulations.

Taiwan introduced Travel Rule provisions in its AML regulations in 2021 but did not implement them, citing differences among countries’ regulatory requirements, incompatible information-transmission standards and difficulties connecting cross-border systems. The FSC said the proposed amendments would soon enter a 30-day public consultation.

The proposal comes as Travel Rule adoption advances globally but remains uneven. In July, the FATF said 83% of surveyed jurisdictions had enacted Travel Rule legislation, up from 73% in 2025, while warning that significant implementation and enforcement gaps remained.
