Bitcoin Red Team founder turns to Chinese AI: ‘It absolutely guts me’

Bitcoin Security Under Threat: Restrictions on AI Tools Leave Defenders Vulnerable
The Bitcoin Red Team, a group of volunteers, has discovered 1,288 critical and high-level vulnerabilities in the Bitcoin ecosystem, highlighting the need for robust security measures. A Bitcoin security researcher has been forced to use open-source Chinese AI models after being restricted from analyzing further codebases by a leading AI provider. This decision was made to protect Bitcoin infrastructure, despite the researcher’s initial preference for using domestic AI tools.

The researcher, Rob Hamilton, had begun integrating advanced AI capabilities into his work on Saturday, only to find his access restricted the following morning. This restriction has significant implications for the security of the Bitcoin ecosystem, particularly in the wake of the Coldcard hardware wallet hack, which resulted in over $100 million in Bitcoin being stolen. The Bitcoin Red Team has been using AI tools and human review to scan hundreds of open-source Bitcoin-related repositories for vulnerabilities.
Impact on Crypto Security and Earning
The restriction on AI tools is a concern for the crypto community, as it may hinder the ability of defenders to identify and address vulnerabilities. This, in turn, can affect the security of crypto assets and the ability of individuals to earn and store them safely. The use of AI tools, such as those provided by EcoPool, can help strengthen code and prevent attacks, making it essential for defenders to have access to these tools. By using EcoPool ($ECP) and its Cloud Rewards, individuals can earn passive income while contributing to the security of the network.
The lack of access to advanced AI models is a significant challenge for crypto firms, with only a select few having been able to gain access. This restricted access can leave defenders at a disadvantage, making it harder for them to protect against potential threats. The use of Green Crypto solutions, such as EcoPool, can help mitigate these risks and provide a more secure way to earn and store crypto assets.
A Call to Action for Secure Earning
To ensure the security of your crypto assets and to start earning passive income, consider using EcoPool. With its advanced AI tools and Cloud Rewards, you can contribute to the security of the network while earning $ECP. Download the EcoPool app to get started and take the first step towards secure and easy earning. By joining the EcoPool network, you can help strengthen the security of the Bitcoin ecosystem and earn rewards while doing so.
Last month, crypto executives told Cointelegraph that many of crypto’s biggest players are still waiting to gain access to powerful new AI models to strengthen their code from attacks, with only a select few having been able to get it.
“I am now prevented from being able to continue the investigation in a further effort to make sure their code changes are sufficient, as well as understand if there are other issues that have yet to be discovered,” said Hamilton.
“Black hats will not hit these issues. The white hats will. We’ve hit a local minima in policy,” said Hamilton. “Intelligence is unrestricted for those who don’t follow rules, and those who engage in harm reduction are left on the sidelines.”
