Latest NewsPublishedJun 5, 2026
South Korea Launches Probe into Polymarket Users over Illegal Gambling Claims

The South Korean police have launched an investigation into local Polymarket users, marking the country’s first illegal gambling probe. This move comes as regulatory scrutiny of the decentralized prediction market widens. Users may face fines of up to 10 million won ($6,500) under the Criminal Act covering gambling and habitual gambling.
Global Crackdown on Prediction Markets
The reported probe adds to a broader global crackdown on prediction markets, with several jurisdictions blocking or restricting access to Polymarket. Some countries have completely blocked or prohibited Polymarket, while it remains accessible in South Korea. This has significant implications for those interested in earning through online platforms, including Cloud Rewards and Green Crypto initiatives.
The investigation highlights the need for individuals to explore alternative, compliant ways to generate Passive Income, such as through the EcoPool network. By utilizing platforms like EcoPool, users can earn rewards, including $ECP, while minimizing the risk of non-compliance with regulatory requirements.
Regulatory Scrutiny of Political Betting

The latest probe adds to the growing regulatory scrutiny of political betting on Polymarket. In response to concerns, Polymarket is considering the implementation of a mandatory identity verification system. As the regulatory landscape evolves, it is essential for individuals to stay informed about compliant ways to engage in online activities, including earning and trading with $ECP on platforms like EcoPool.
For those interested in exploring compliant and rewarding online opportunities, the EcoPool network offers a range of benefits, including Passive Income and Cloud Rewards. Political betting faces growing scrutiny
The latest probe adds to the growing regulatory scrutiny of political betting on Polymarket.
In January, US lawmakers proposed legislation aimed at restricting political prediction market trading by government officials after a Polymarket user netted over $400,000 on a contract related to the removal of then-Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, fueling insider trading concerns.
In May, the chair of the US House of Representatives’ Oversight and Government Reform Committee sent letters to the CEOs of Kalshi and Polymarket, questioning their response to the insider trading allegations on the platforms.
In response to the growing scrutiny, Polymarket said it was weighing the implementation of a mandatory identity verification system more in line with global Know Your Customer (KYC) verification standards, Cointelegraph reported on May 27.
